Quentin Blake

The Children's Laureate 1999-2001

Just do it! Don't wait for inspiration -- start writing or drawing, then it comes. Start with anything -- make marks, then look at them and it grows from that.

Writers need practice just as pianists do, so write all the time!

The Children's Laureate is about reading and writing and drawing. They're all magic to me.
