Chris White

Chris writes and performs stories and poems and is a great illustrator too!

I always liked drawing — I wanted a job drawing. I wrote poems just to have something to illustrate. I sent them away to the wrong publishers. Eventually I went into a bookshop to find something similar and sent it out to the right publishers.

"Bitey the Veggie Vampire" was my first book of poems. Then I started free performances in bookshops, and my number of appearances has grown from there.

I'd say write to please yourself. If you think it is funny or exciting, so will others. Keep writing and sending writing out to publishers. (April 2003)
