Read. Reading is the important thing.
Don't worry if you can't write at school. I find you need to be
relaxed when you write, to swing on a chair, listen to the radio.
I play with string a lot, if I'm not sure what to write next.
Don't [always] write a plan — write the story first then
the plan can come afterwards!
