The Little Alien That Could

Once upon a time
there was a little alien named Schlaodon. He lived on a small planet
named "Planet Of Us." This planet wasn't any larger than the size of
United States.
Every machine that was established on this small planet was made to
last forever. Everybody on this planet knew everyone else and knew what
they were known for. For example Schlobadon's dad was very skilled at
digging holes, and his job was just that, to dig holes for building's
foundations to be set. Yet Schlobadon wasn't good or skilled at anything.
He tried so hard to become good at something but had no success at any
of it. He became known on his planet as the alien that was useless.
This reputation of having no use at all was hard on little Schlobadon
and the kids at school made fun of him. He was always the last one picked
to be on teams, and nobody wanted to be anywhere near him, because of
the fear that he might bring down their reputation. So because of this
life was hard on Schlobadon. Since he had no friends, he had nothing
to do in his spare time. So to fill this time of lonesome he read and
had to learn to enjoy books. He read many things ranging from the old
technology on Earth to the high-tech things that they used on his planet.
He learned everything there was to know about every machine in existence.
He could find a problem in anything and know how to fix it. Everybody
still made fun of him for his interest in machines, and they all thought
that he was a fool for taking up something so useless as machines. They
thought that he should try to learn some sort of skill. But as much
as he wanted to learn a skill he just had no luck. So this interest
in machines was good for him since he had nothing else to do.
By the time that Schlobadon was twenty years old, which would be fifty
on Earth because of the longer year on his planet, the atmosphere started
to weaken because of all the fuel being used on the planet. This meant
that meteoroids and other rocks in space could easily hit the surface
of Schlobadon's planet and destroy everything. Sooner or later the planet
had to get hit by a meteor, and it did when nobody was expecting it.
This harsh hit to the planet caused all of the power to go out and all
of the machines to short circuit.
This enabled everybody everywhere from doing their daily routines. No
one on the planet knew how to fix the machines since they were supposed
to be ever lasting. Everybody that had once made fun of Schlobadon now
turned to him to save their own lives.
He could have said, "No" to everyone and gotten back at them for making
fun of him at a younger age, but he didn't and he accepted the challenge
of fixing all the machines.
He went to work right away and started to fix every machine on the planet
one by one with his bear hands. He was very successful in fixing these
machines and made most of them perform better than they did in the first
place. He had done it and single handedly fixed every one of the machines
of his planet. Everything was back to normal now and everyone was very
thankful of Schlobadon. The only thing that was wrong was that there
still wasn't an atmosphere to protect his planet.
Nobody even remembered that there wasn't an atmosphere until the next
meteor headed toward the planet. This made everybody worry and start
to suck up to Schlobadon. They would give him gifts to come and fix
their machine first after the meteor hit. Schlobadon accepted all of
these gifts. Then when the meteor was about to hit a huge explosion
occurred. Everyone was puzzled and wondered what the explosion was from.
They all looked outside and realized that the explosion was the meteor
being blocked by some sort of atmosphere.
This atmosphere was created by Schlobadon and the machine he made to
make an atmosphere. So Schlobadon knew all along that the meteor wouldn't
hit his planet, yet he still took all the gifts. Everyone now loved
Schlobadon and he was now the hero of the planet. So just because you
might not be good at something don't let it get to you, just keep after
it and you will find something that you're good at.
