Lady Sherwood runs
the castle's household for her husband. She instructs Sir Hugo, the steward,
how and when she wants things done. (The castle steward is in charge of
each and every servant there.) Not only can Lady Sherwood read and write
but she also knows how to keep accounts ... so she can keep an eye on how
every penny is being spent. She also teaches the daughters of other nobles,
and even supervises the making of medicines from plants in her herb garden. |
